Scott Unger - Owner, Vice President & Treasurer

Born and raised on the Big Island, Scott graduated from Hilo High School and went on to receive his Bachelor of Science in Finance from San Diego State University in 1987. With the goal of returning home to Hawaii to raise his family, Scott embarked on his career in the gas industry when he accepted a position with Air Liquide in Kona in 1998. In 2004, he joined AmeriGas, opening their first office on the Big Island and bringing competition to the island’s commercial propane market for the first time. Over the years, Scott began to see a particular need for a local company to compete with the large public gas companies . In 2011, Scott formed Alii Gas to bring competitive prices and unmatched customer service to the people of the Big Island. Scott has nearly 30 years in the gas industry.

Interests: Apart from his devotion to family & work, Scott is a devout member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church.   He and his wife Karen currently head the Engagement Encounter Program for the West Hawaii Vicariate (Catholic Church).  From 2022-2023, Scott served as the President of the Rotary Club of Kona. Currently, he is serving as Rotary's Assistant Governor for West Hawaii.  He is especially passionate about working on Community Service Projects promoted and supported by his Rotary Club and the Catholic Church. When he is not working or volunteering his time, Scott can be found in the mountains or in the water!

Karen Unger - Owner, President & Secretary

Karen began her career in the airline industry in 1989, eventually joining Aloha Airlines in 1992 as an agent & then a flight attendant. She spent 17 years with Aloha Airlines until their untimely bankruptcy in 2008. After a brief stint in property management, she joined Scott in the office at Alii Gas in 2013. Scott and Karen have three children: Sam, Hannah, and Jake, and three grandchildren.

Interests: Karen is also a devout member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church. She serves as a lector, member of the stewardship committee, a board member for Catholic Charities, and as the head of the Anti-Human Trafficking ministry. When she is not working or volunteering with the church, she can be found on the tennis court!

Hannah Unger - East Side Service & Sales

Hannah was born on Oahu and raised on the Big Island where she graduated from Hawaii Preparatory Academy in 2012. She spent a year post-high school in Argentina as a Rotary Youth Exchange student. She went on to major in Spanish and graduated from Boise State University in 2017. In late 2018, she moved back to the Big Island where she joined the family at Alii Gas. In 2025, she received her Master's degree in Social Work from UH Mānoa.

Interests: From 2019-2020, Hannah served as the Coordinator/Director of the Meet N’ Eat program, a nonprofit that provided a weekly hot meal to the under served population in the Kealakehe area. She was awarded Rotarian of the Year (2020) for her work with the program. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her partner, Nick, their daughter, and her friends. She also enjoys hiking & camping, getting in the water, and traveling.

Sam Unger - West Side Service & Sales

Sam was raised on the Big Island and graduated from Konawaena High School in 2009. He went on to play football and study hospitality at Northern Arizona University. After graduating from college in 2014, Sam moved back home to Hawaii where he spent time working at Four Seasons Resort Hualalai. In 2016, he and his girlfriend moved to Denver where he worked in the service industry & as a first responder. In 2019, Sam married his longtime girlfriend June and they decided to move back home to Hawaii to join the family.

Interests: When Sam is not working, he can be found spending time with his wife June and their two kids and their dog, or playing music, watching sports, and enjoying the outdoors.

Steve Masini - East Side Service Manager

Steve Masini was born and raised in the Bay Area in California. He began working in the propane industry in 1992 and has over thirty years of experience.  He served as the General Manager for AmeriGas on Maui from 2008-2016, through which he met Scott. After moving back to the mainland in 2016, Steve joined Teeco Products as a manager. In May of 2021, Steve was brought on as the East Side Service Manager for Ali'i Gas. His knowledge is unmatched and he has already proven to be fundamental in growing our Hilo plant. He has two children, Nicole & Anthony, and five grandchildren.

Interests: In his spare time, Steve likes to barbeque, play golf, hunt, and spend time with family.

Ernesto (Jr) Fabro, "Junr"

Junr was raised on Hawai'i's Big Island and graduated from Konawaena High School in 1999. After earning his Commercial Driver's License (CDL), he spent a decade working in in-flight catering for Mauna Kea Beach Hotel, serving Aloha Airlines. Following a brief period in the hospitality industry, he transitioned to the propane sector in 2015 with AmeriGas. In 2024, he joined the Ali'i Gas family where he is committed to excellence, providing quality work and exceptional service.

Interests: In his free time he enjoys spending time with his wife and three sons, and has a passion for cars and traveling.

Damien Mills

Damien was born and raised in Kailua-Kona and graduated from Konawaena High School. He also attended Hawai'i Community College in Hilo where he completed an electrician program. From 1995-2005 he worked at Coca-Cola Bottling Co. as a merchandiser, warehouse employee and later as a Sales Manager. From 2005-2020 he worked at West Hawai'i Concrete as a driver, maintenance and plant operator, and dispatcher/team lead. From 2020-2024 he worked at HPM as a driver that delivered roofing material. He has been married to his beautiful wife for 25 years, together for 30 years. They have been blessed with 3 sons, 1 daughter, 1 hanai son and 5 grandchildren.

Interests: God 1st, spending time with his ohana, playing music with his kids, traveling to see his kids and grandkids in Seattle & Las Vegas. He also enjoys coaching youth rugby and pop warner football, as well as exercising at the gym and going camping.

Judah Winters

Originally born in Arizona, Judah moved to Maui at age 2 and then to the Big Island at age 3. He graduated from Keaau High School and later served in the. U.S. Navy as a Gunner's Mate, stationed in Spain. After his military service, he earned his CDL and worked as a truck driver in Virginia before returning home to Hawai'i to raise his family. He joined the Ali'i Gas team in January of 2025 as a delivery driver. As part of this small, family-run business, he takes pride in providing reliable and friendly service to our community, safely delivering and filling propane tanks.

Interests: He now lives on the Hilo side with his wife and two kids, and is grateful to be back and working in the community he grew up in
